Huh... You sound like a warrior of some sort... That's summoned... Summoned... How is one "summoned", I can't really see how unless -- hm... Perhaps biologically engineered?
[ HE... DOESN'T UNDERSTAND, HONESTLY. He's kind of mumbling to himself, but not in a hushed way. Just thinking out loud, really. Shion thinks through equations and theories based on the real world! he doesn't know what to make of this.
ah, but he didn't want to make Karna self conscious! oh gosh...
so, look! Shion extends his hand for a handshake with a friendly smile. ]
I've been called weird many times so... My names Shion. It's nothing to worry about, Karna.
[ He could very well go into the whole explanation about how a servant is summoned, the catalyst, the ritual, the contract, BUT THAT would take a long time and perhaps saved for another time...
he'll reach over, if kind of stiffly, and shake Shion's hand. Yes. ]
Were you called weird because of your white hair? [ NO TACT but he doesn't mean it badly, he's just curious since Shion mentioned it -- ]
[ lord, maybe another day! that would probably burn out Shion's brain. Karna's handshake was definitely stiff, but it's not like Shion judged on that anyway.
he pauses for a moment, retracts his hand and then nods. ]
Well... It's not a natural hair colour where I'm from. [ don't worry Karna, Shion literally has no tact either. no tact club! ]
So i got strange looks... But I'm over that now. Still really weird at first.
[ anyway, it looks like Shion's wispy lil goat is interested in the BIG ASS CAKE. it's trying to hobble it's way over there, and Shion immediately jumps. ]
Ah -- wait, Karna-san... Please watch out!
[ HE'S??? POINTING AT THE GOAT BUT NOTHING'S THERE... HMMM... either way this goat is READY TO CAUSE HAVOC it wants that cake, man. it's ready. it's going to run at it with it's best goat speed... but it might run into (through?) Karna! so he might get a really... interesting memory!? welcome to Bee Hell. ]
[ It's unbearable. Karna who has never really felt human pains, especially ones like the ones Shion was exhibiting in this memory, was much too overwhelmed by sensations on all fronts. He wants to pass out, he wants to die, he wants the suffering to just end but...aren't those Shion's feelings? Karna gets his own and the other's confused, trying to swallow down the heavy feeling in his chest and focus, concentrate so he can separate his own feelings from those that are being inflicted via Shion's memory.
While he doesn't understand what's going on...the anguish is as clear as day. Karna would help Shion if he could, even if he didn't know what to do. But people shouldn't be made to suffer like that -- if Shion wanted to live or die, Karna would have answered it but...there's nothing he can do now but watch as this boy struggles to live. Ah, it's a good thing he's not alone. Is the only comforting thought Karna can muster, struggling himself to maintain consciousness.
After it's all over...Karna takes a long moment to regain his senses. He's back in the pastry shop and Shion is there -- he looks fine. Karna wants to reach over and check for himself but can't bring himself to stand up let alone walk over. What DOES stumble over to Shion, perhaps because Karna had wanted to(???) is the frightened little fox spirit. It's probably not the best thing considering what just happened to Karna after being passed through by Shion's own animal and yet, he watches as the wispy fox brushes its nose against Shion...just enough for the other to see one of Karna's more bittersweet memories. ]
[ Shion frets just a bit because something was definitely wrong. he felt it in his bones, or you can maybe say... he felt it in his own very soul.
He doesn't notice the fox, Shion was going to attempt to reach out to Karna, go behind the counter and check on him. yet, the fox stops him in his tracks and puts that memory in his head. he stops in his tracks, and he finds himself collapsing to the ground onto his knees. he wraps himself in his arms and his hands squeeze his own arms in a tight hug.
he couldn't help the feeling of nausea that overtakes him, despite what he was seeing was...
he honestly couldn't understand. this was Karna's mother? yet... he didn't accept her as one. it boggles Shion's mind, as someone who loved his own mother. he would do anything to see her again.
but "deception" and a "complacent love"... Karna was still glad he was called her son once. he feels sad for some reason and he wanted to cry. he wanted to cry for Karna and how he didn't have a mother in his life everyday, calling him her son, and giving him the same love Shion's own mother gave him. Nezumi told him not to cry for others though. so... he shakes his head, bites his lip and he can feel his senses return to him.
though, there might be one tear that stains his cheek however. ]
I... [ he feels sick... he feels a heavy weight on his heart. Nezumi always told him this was his weak point. he felt too many emotions for other people, and wanted to understand them. even when they weren't any of his business, he couldn't help but cry for others, give them pity, sympathy, or comfort.
he stands up despite his legs feeling a tad bit shaky, and he tries to speak again. though, he can only utter a weak question, trying to search for a better answer. ]
[ That snaps Karna out of it. Not entirely since he can't just shake off the sickness he's feeling but to hear of his mother in even the smallest form...it causes his usually stoic expression to shift just barely. There's the slightest emotion of remembrance on his face before it's just as quickly washed away.
His mother...where does he even begin? ] When I was born, my mother had abandoned me directly after. When she came to me later...which I assume is what you saw, I was...happy to have been accepted by her as a mother.
Although when I asked her to accept me wholly, accept the shame that I was to her, she did not answer it. My mother still had a bit of pride you see, so...that's what happened. She tried to deceive me and her acceptance of me as her son was not genuine...that is where the deception was.
[ Not that he hates her? He doesn't hate or blame his mother and it's as he admitted, Karna was happy back then to have been accepted if only for a moment. ]
[ ah... so that's how it was. that's incredibly sad... Shion looks down at the floor for a minute -- he even sees his goat hobble along, as if it just did nothing to cause an... awkward moment between the two despite just meeting.
but, this is Shion he pries, and he's nosy. so he can't help it. he wants to help in some day, but he isn't too sure how.
but... ]
My father... Left us two months after I was born. My mom described him as hopeless, and drunk, so it frustrated her.
So... ... ... I don't have any memory of him, except for the fact he brought cherry cake home on the day I was born. That's why we had cherry cake every birthday. That sounds kind of silly doesn't it? It became habit.
[ he doesn't know if this will comfort him, but it's a simple gesture that kind of says 'I think I know how you feel'. yet... he still feels really sad. ]
[ Shion probably feels more sadness about that situation that Karna ever has...even now, he's not sad about it. He just...accepted it as it was back then and still does. He'll listen to Shion's attempt to relate and comfort (or what he assumes is an attempt at that).
He'll give a nod though...he understands it in a way...AND HE WOULD HAVE RESPONDED but then Shion asks about The Forbidden One. Well, if he were Arjuna then he wouldn't really talk about his brother but he's Karna which means it's fine.
[max voice] things are gucci ]
My brother. He is from the same epic lore as I am, and can be summoned as a "servant" under the "archer" class. However we're rarely summoned at the same time... [ probably a good thing honestly ] but, he and I both have the same "incurable disease" we share an unfortunate and unbreakable bond that puts us in direct opposition of one another.
